waypoint calculations all wrong.

My 2014 31 s garmin shows on the map my location correctly but when I put in waypoint coordinates, it shows something that is a mile or so away to be over 20. Even plugged in a waypoint today for a site that I was already on and shows many miles away.

Suggestions? Do a factory reset?

Hello,

Couple things to check and try, have you updated the software to the most current for that plotter? Garmin only had one last update before they stopped supporting the software for the 7200 series plotter. Have you cycled the boats battery switches lately? Sometimes we have found by turning off then back on after 1min has fixed some issues like you are describing. Lastly I would recalibrate the AP and GPS antenna, sometimes they need to be recalibrated to get correct readings. Hope this helps and let us know what you find.

Your setting may have gotten changed, I would go in and make sure your entries are the same i.e. all decimal degrees or deg/min/sec or however your system is setup. Just check to make sure you are not inputting apples when you should be inputting oranges
