Weaver Davits and Dinghy Weight

I'm going to install the 4" up and out weaver davits for my R29 Classic. I'm concerned that a RIB weighing in at 120-140 lbs will be too heavy for my wife and I to swing up in the stow position. I'm thinking a similar sized inflatable with an air floor weighing in at 60 lbs will be more manageable. I'm using a Torqeedo Travel 1003. I'd appreciate any feedback from those currently using the weaver davits. Thanks.

There are a few tricks that you can use to increase the leverage with a simple line and no pulleys. You can also use a block and tackle arrangement to increase your leverage. Ranger also sold a winch setup on some boats. We have the winch but it is very slow so I don’t use it. I use a single line around the stern rail to increase leverage. This works for myself alone (60 year old male) for a RIB260 on a R27 Classic. With a single pulley I could double the leverage but haven’t needed it.

Using the air floor model would make it super easy if you don’t mind the limitations.

We use a tackle on our Weaver/Walker Bay. Works fine, about 80 pounds.

I used a 4:1 block and tackle to lift and lower my Portland Pudgy (weighed 200 lbs) on my late 2010 R25 Classic. I used 1/4" line and the max effort was approximately 20 lbs. It was easy. I attached the block to the port side hand rail on the cabin roof using a swivel and the block had a mechanism to snag the line from moving so I could hold the Pudgy in any position (up or down). It worked flawlessly for me.
