Hi,
We are looking to install a dinghy hoist system on our R25SC so that we can leave our motor permanently mounted on the dinghy. Manhandling our 6HP kicker from the boat's transom to the tender has gotten old very quickly. We were considering the Weaver system with the hydraulic foot pump. If there are any Tugnuts out there who have this system, I would appreciate what your experience has been with it. Would you recommend it? Are there other makes and styles that work better? Any advice or feedback would be welcome.
 
I use the Garhour lift. It's very easy to haul an engine up, it pivots 360 degrees and it only cost me $200.
 
Jim Favors (KISMET) uses the Hurley Davit. The dingy lays flat on the swim platform so the motor stays mounted and you don't loose the view from the stern. It is pretty easy to launch and retrieve the dingy as well.
 
Thanks for the link Jim... I'm also looking at davit systems and was wondering how easy it would be install one of these system with the boat still on the water. Your pictures help. I guess you just need to make sure you really hold onto the nuts when mounting onto the swim step 🙂

If you are interested in the Weaver tilt system, the one that keeps the motor attached to the tender, I have a gently used one for sale. It will not work if you have the patio rails on the swim platform though
 
My two cents worth. We have a R 29 with a Pacer lift supplied By Ranger Tug. We have a Ranger 8.5
hard bottom dinghy. I made a cradle for the cabin top and can lift the dinghy with a outboard motor
with ease. We also have the Weaver davits mounted on the swim step and have also towed the dinghy.
I fish a lot and really like having the dinghy up out of the way.

Lots of options to think about.

I'm wondering if the new, extended cockpit roof on the R-29S opens up some more options for dinghy storage. Any ideas??
