Where is the access for the Webasto Heater on my 2016 C30-CB? I plan to add a remote temp sensor to the cabin, and I'd also like to upgrade the controller to a digital controller.

Can someone validate that this digital controller + wiring harness would work? I believe I have the airtop evo 3900 in my boat.

I can imagine running the wiring for both of these things is going to be a real trick / treat... :-D

Hi there,

You can gain access to the Webasto heater by removing the interior side panel in the q-berth. You will see the heater on the other side of the water tank (port side) and you can go around the front of the water tank to get at the heater. If there are other fittings that you cannot reach, you should be able to access them through the access panel under the stove. For the controller, sorry but I do not have any info on whether that one will work.

Cheers,

Ralf

Hi Ralf, not sure if I'm following on the access panel in the quarter berth? which one exactly? i know there's the middle compartment where the water pump and stuff is, but there's a panel that allows cross access to the port side of the boat where the heater is?

Hi there,

The panel is to the inboard side of the q-berth, running fore and aft. You will find the screw heads around the perimeter of that panel. Remove those and you can pull off that panel. Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Ralf

If it's like our 2019 C30S then the Webasto is under the storage below the stove. Remove the white panel on the floor and the heater is mounted down and behind that, if I remember correctly.

I'm not sure how easy it would be to access any control wiring on the unit as it is difficult to reach all around it, but on the other hand you might not have to, depending on the wiring. (I accessed the unit to bolster the ductwork and that was difficult, but possible.)

Thanks both - hopefully this doesn't become a fools errand! :-D

It seems like the 2016 model C30 has an older (AT3900 EVO) heater that is completely analog and can't be controlled with a digital set-point controller. I spoke to Webasto NA, and they confirmed this, but I can add the external temperature sensor, so the heater isn't using the air in the bilge where it gets its air intake from as the thermostat temperature, which results in the heater running forever and the boat either being too hot or too cold.
