My webasto has been working with the marina temperature at 34 degrees. This morning however with the temp at about 28 degrees the turn on button would lite up but the green on button would not light up and the heater would not turn on. I have not installed a bilge heater so I am wondering if the diesel fuel in the narrow heater fuel lines coagulated.

Appreciate anyone’s thoughts on this.

That is nowhere near cold enough to affect the diesel unless something else is going on ... although a nice thing to have on board just to check such things is an infrared thermometer gun. The engine room is likely in the upper 30s-40s with the water around.

Is there any error code flashing on the Webasto control? The flashes mean things like "failure to ignite" depending on the number of flashes.

In our experience the most common problem has been initial failure to ignite due to the need for the fuel to prime (5 flashes if I recall). The solution is to wait for the control to time out, then try it another time or two. It will eventually prime.

Also keep in mind that if your tank is below the pickup it will also fail. On my C30 that’s below 40 gallons or so, but I believe the C28 tank is smaller.

Thanks for the responses. I know the engine room is about 45 degrees but my thinking was that the pipes taking the diesel fuel to the heater are small and away from the engine room and thus the fuel is more likely to coagulate. Also the green on light is not illuminated while the on off button is. I will go to the boat a little later today after it has warmed up and see if the heater will start. Yesterday when the temp was in the mid thirties the heater started right up.

The fact that it was a lot warmer this afternoon did not make a difference the green light does not come on so an error code is not displayed. I have found a reset procedure on line which I will try tomorrow. Will keep you posted
