I'd like to sell my R-21 and since we can't advertise boats for sale here anymore I need to find a broker. Does anyone know of a reputable broker in the San Francisco or Sacramento area? I've tried advertising it locally and I think I've met every tire kicker, shyster, and low ball artist in Humboldt County. Thanks.

Bump. Anybody?

You might want to think about taking your boat to a broker in Portland or Seattle. Many more marine brokers and potential customers in those areas.
I sold my R-25 Classic myself but I had moved the boat 300 miles north to Portland (Columbia Crossings Marina) to show it and to do “sea trials” on the Columbia River. Used BoatTrader, Facebook Marketplace, the Facebook “Ranger Tugs Boats for Sale” group and Craigslist to advertise it.
Good luck!

I’m also selling my dad’s 2005 R-21. I put an ad on Boat Trader but absolutely everyone is telling me that Facebook Marketplace is the way to go. I don’t really want to deal with the hassle of potential FB buyers or weed through the scammers but several people have told me their boats sold very fast there. I’m going to wait a week to see how the Boat Trader ad does, then do FB in parallel. I also need more photos. My husband was talking to a very nice broker in Annapolis (close to us) and he wanted $4000 to rep it! Definitely would be the easiest route but I wanted to try myself first. Good luck to you!

Thanks to everyone for the replies and advice. I've put ads in C-List up and down the coast and also an ad on FB Marketplace. I don't really want to sell the boat but I just don't use it enough.
Brokers are alright but most of them I've talked to don't really want to handle a small boat like the R21. Brokers fees seem to range from five to ten percent and some of them have a lot of hidden fees that they disclose after you sign a contract.
