Strange, but I clearly remember when I press the flush button on the electric head that water flows around the bowl. Now, it does not, even holding down the button longer than necessary.

Water tank and pump just fine.

Now what!!??

I have had the same problem with my head. I've done a little troubleshooting, but haven't really dug into the problem. The reason I've not expended very much effort and time looking into the problem is that there is a very easy, good and simple work around. I simply use the head sink faucet head to put FRESH water into the bowl prior to using the head. With a full bowl of fresh water, the waste is swept away effectively. The added benefit of this operation is that it turns the normal sea water supplied head into a fresh water head. There are a number of TUGNUT threads describing where owners have converted their heads over to fresh water to help reduce the biological activity and smell in the holding tank.

Stay safe.

Line to head maybe kinked or clogged with debris. This might be a good time to change out joker valve to holding tank since you will have to remove toilet to detach line to blow out. it might also be the pump screen is clogged, the pump is usually located in the bilge. You unscrew the clear cap and clean screen.

Well, the water rinse has returned now after several fill an flush cycles!!

Comments are appreciated - joker valve is good idea

My electric flush acted this way for a couple of days and then it too fixed itself. I never figured out why and it is hard to trouble shoot something that again works properly.

I'm always leery of things that "fix" themselves on a boat....they usually wind up presenting themselves later at an even worse time. 🙁

Ohhh Gawd…. I’m trying to make the best of it now .

At least I have a bucket if I’m offshore …

Agreed, but it flushed fine and just limited water left in the bowl was a minor issue that has not replicated itself and is not a safety issue.

I once used the electric flush while forgetting to open the seacock for the head/washdown. After realizing and opening the seacock, it took several cycles of dry bowl, gurgling, spluttering, and overfilling before it purged the air out and settled down into its regular fill cycle again.

Yes definitely…I had a “low coolant” warning on the Volvo gauge…checked and even added a little even though it wasn’t low…broker said turn batteries off for 5 mins then turn it all back on and it’s been good since. My pessimistic mind keeps wondering “why” did it warn me and what’s waiting to happen? 😱

There could be a couple of things that happened. (Water tank and pump just fine.) Do you have a fresh water flush? That would be the only reason to make this comment. If you have a fresh water flush with water in the tank and the fresh water pump on the issue would have been the solenoid valve was stuck and not opening when you flushed the head. After several try's it finally opened and the pressurized water from the fresh water system filled the bowl. If the boat sat for awhile and the head was not used this may have been the issue.

If you have a raw water flush and had the boat out of the water and launched it. You may have had air in the system between the sea-strainer check valve and head diaphragm sea water pump. The diaphragm pump is much more effective when the diaphragm pump chambers have fluid in them. If the water line from the strainer to the head was dry it will take a number of pump cycles before the water will be present at the bowl. Once water is present it will function as normal. The check valve may have been stuck or had some debris in it obstructing water flow. It is a simple system. If it is working properly now it should be fine. Check the system for leaks a water leak will also be a air leak witch will effect the pumps ability to pump properly because it is sucking air.

The joker valve will have nothing to do with pulling water into the bowl. A joker valve that is not functioning correctly will add waste water to the bowl not restrict clean water from entering it.

Yep - boat sat for a month - fresh water flush
