HI Tugnuts:
We hit a submerged rock on our way back to Anacortes and now have fiberglass, gel coat and prop repairs that need to be done. Anyone have a recommendation of a really good boat repair business to recommend. Tacoma or Seattle is preferred. :?
Thanks
Gretchen

I don't have a recommendation for you, although Ranger Tugs might offer you some reputable companies for the repairs.

I'm curious to know where you encountered the submerged (presumably hidden from view and not marked on the chart) rock ? Thanks...

Was on chart, but submerged. We were busy trying to get the correct view with the GPS instead of looking at our chart when we hit. It's just off Jones Island State Park, between it and Deer Harbor Marina.

Was this the rock you encountered ?

Just a novice being curious, are these types of rocks usually, ever, never marked with a buoy?

Many, in fact most of these hazards are marked on the chart but not often marked with a visual aid to navigation, such as a day mark or buoy. Only the principal ones may have visual aids to navigation..

Refer to http://mapserver.mytopo.com/mapserver/n ... ls/K2.html

for meaning of the various symbols.

The nasty ones are the + symbols. These rocks never dry at 0 tide.

The way we remember these is that you want to cross yourself if you get close!
Dawn-Marie also is very wary of + with a dot in each quadrant!!! These are just awash at 0 tide.
