What music do you play when out on the waters alone

On our last cruise there was a longish stretch with not another pleasure craft insight so I cranked up my music held on my little barely 1" square Apple iPod shuffle. 1st Mate turned her hearing aids off as I started to crank up the volume and our two Fox Terriers took note and at first started to howl like wolfs do... then quietened down with puzzled looks on their faces. It was glorious to have my music filling my ears and drowning out the engine noise while cruising along on this long run.

I'm curious if others have favorite tunes they play in such circumstances...

What music do you play on the open waters ? Are there some nautical type tunes I'm missing ?

When I am out on the water alone, especially if I am anchored somewhere, fishing or whatever, I like to have the radio off and enjoy the peace and quiet while taking in the sights of nature and the surroundings.

When the need for music on the boat strikes us, we go for "proper" boat music: Jimmy Buffett, Eric Stone, or most anything that isn't rap, disco, or screaming. Most of the time, I play guitar for my Honey when she wants music. 😎

I agree... when stationary I also like the peace of silence. I rarely listen to the Fusion radio when cruising.

When I listen to music and only if my wife is not along I listen to 400 or so Irish (rebel and otherwise) songs. It drives most of my friends nuts but I am the :lol: Captain!
