Our Journey is at Bedwell Marine Park at mooring bouy #6. We are about 150 feet from shore.
A few minutes ago something substantial hit the water between us an the shore. No sound other than that of the huge splash about 4 ft in diameter and 2-3 feet high. Nothing surfaced after the splash. The ripple from the splash was less than four inches high so not that big considering the size of the initial splash. There were bubbles coming up from the center the impact site which lasted about a minute or so.
Since the impact points was about 60 feet off shore I doubt it was a rock coming off the cliff at the shore. We did not hear anything before the splash.
Anybody got any ideas what we just witnessed?

I would guess a sea lion catching a fish. Possibly an orca.

Brad,
Thanks but nothing was above the water at the moment of impact except the water splash spray. We were both directly looking at that area when the event happened.
We have seen a sea lion jumping with salmon in its mouth before. Nothing at all like that. Very, very different type of event.
I could give the spot of impact between buoy #6 and the madrone tree on shore within +/- 20 ft.
Like nothing I have ever witnessed before in my life!

After thinking about it all night, I’m guessing we either had a small meteorite, a piece of space junk, solid airplane part, or a passing eagle dropping an abalone sized object next to us. It was so close!
Vicki dismissed the idea of a soccer ball sized gas bubble coming up from the sea floor - which is 32 ft deep at #6 right now. Very, very unusual whatever the heck it was!

Big ball of frozen doo doo ejected from an overhead jetliner?

it could have been a tail kick just below the surface.

The news report of the meteorite over eastern Canada that same day really has me thinking it may have been a piece of it.

meteorite that close?????...wow....considering buying a lottery ticket .....lol...
