What type of bottom paint

Have a 2012 29S. The boat had sat on a lift most of its life so the bottom was never painted. I will be using it in fresh & salt water. I am looking for ideas on the type of paint I should use.
Also how would ceramic coating work?

On my 2019 R29 CB NW Edition (kept in salt water) I had Black Antifouling Sea hawk Premium Quality AF33 paint applied after a good sanding of the factory hull finish - (2 or 3 coats if I recall).
 
As Barry mentioned, AF33 works well.

Ceramic coating works by creating a bond with the gelcoat at the molecular level; it is much more durable than wax. Application of a marine ceramic coating is a bit more complicated than your traditional wax application. The surface needs to be completely degreased and cleaned. Depending on the product flashing time, the ceramic coating will have to be wiped off at a specific time after application. Durability also depends on the product. I have typically seen coatings that last 2+ years. A ceramic coating will make the boat much easier to clean and more resistant to oxidation. Similar to wax, you do not want to add any coating to your nonskid, as it can create a slippery surface.

Ditto to knotflying. I applied in the fall of 2016 and still getting antifouling protection. I will note all fresh water. I will re-coat over the winter. I have used Vivid bottom paint with previous owned trailerable boats with very good results. It doesn't wear off as fast as many other ablative bottom paints. It is also formulated, not to be effected by mutable launching.
 
Matt, I am a certified installer of Ceramic coating. The benefits as opposed to bottom paint are, you can't see it and it is not a drag on your boat it's actually slippery. There is no added weight to your boat. Scrum lines wipe right off with no effort. If applied to the entire boat clean up after a day in the salt is easy as rinsing off your boat. It also added a layer of 9h hardness to your finish that helps resist scratching. Ceramic coating will prevent oxidation from forming on your Gel coat. That means your color will not fade or become chalky. The ceramic coating will also make your boat shine more than it did when it was new. I have pictures and some video of finished boats and wiping off marine growth off a coated boat if you are interested. Kevin
 
Depends on where you are.

I get good results from Micron CSC HS in NE Florida. Still need a diver, the critters grow fast in warm water!
 
The type of bottom paint depends on type of water, whether you pull your boat out of the water or not, etc. Go with a reputable manufacturer and discuss with them. Also, you should have a discussion with them on surface prep and first coats to prevent osmosis, followed by growth protection coats. Some like the first coats being a different color, so one can see when the top coat is getting thin, particularly with ablatives.
 
Anyone know what the approx.costs should be for bottom paint or ceramic coating including labor for a 2012 29S.
Boat would be used in fresh & salt water.

The Strait of Georgia was calm this weekend so we took our R27OB to Vancouver. I noticed we were getting 1.45 mpg on the first half of the trip, much less than my usual 1.9 mpg at similar throttle and trim settings. The fuel efficiency gradually increased and on our return we were getting more like 1.65 mpg. I presume that's due to growth on the bottom. The boat was delivered new in July 2017 so the bottom paint is only two years old. The boat has sat in the water for the last three months unused which I guess has given the algae etc more time to grow undisturbed. I'll hire a diver next week to scrape the bottom and see what improvement I'll get.
 
Pettit, Trinidad SR. I have used it on multiple boats for many years in both the PNW and California. In the PNW on my last boat at the end of 4 years the bottom was still staying clean. In Southern California, where the water is much warmer, I usually get 3 years out of it. Kiki had Trinidad SR applied in April this year, the boat has been sitting for several weeks in Anacortes, WA, when we arrived last week the bottom was looking a little hairy but no grass growing around the waterline. We went on a 3 hour run and returned to the slip, bottom is spotless, it's great paint!
