I often would like to know the year of your tug when you make a post. May I offer a suggestion? Include the year of your tug in front of the name (see to the right of this post how I did our year and name. To do so click on User Control Panel at the top of this screen. Click on Profile, Edit. Go to Vessel Name and enter the (year) in front of the vessel's name. Click on the SUBMIT button. Thanks. Genny

My tug is timeless///

I like the idea.
I did as you suggested.
Hope others do too.

Good idea, especially with all the minor variations between model years that appear to have occurred. Wiring and options, in particular, seem to have had significant changes.

Done (as you can see).

I'm hoping that mine is a 2012, 2013 at the latest! 😉

Hi Dave and Genny,
I think your idea is great. I have added our model year to our member ID. Thanks for the great suggestion. Have a Merry Christmas.

Cool. We're in.

Year is good idea but model year is not as important as hull number for comparing 2 boats. My boat (Hull # 67) was built in December 2007 and is a 2008 model. Yanmar engines were used in 2007 and early 2008 but sometime in early 2008 Ranger shifted to Cummins engines. Many changes have occurred during model years. Using both model year and hull number would be better

All great ideas. Its tricky to figure out your date of manufacture and (I believe) the numbers start over each year. Here's how to figure out this stuff, I think, as best I have gleaned it from other posts on this bulletin board:
Hull number: FMLT2551C909
FMLT=Fluid Motion 25=LOA #51 C9=Manuf: 03/09 09=Model Year

Drop a PM to Andrew... He has a method to identify your hull number...
It is not straight forward and you (he) have to know the model year and hull number(s) at which they changed the serial numbering (more than once) I am #115

I did some research on all the old posts herein. This theory seems to carry through consistently with what I've read. Our 2006 Ranger 21-EC
FMLT2119B606
FMLT = Fluid Motion Tug
21 = length overall
19 = hull number
B = month built (Feb) A = Jan, B = Feb, C = March etc.
6 = year built 2006
06 = Model year (2006) (seems like model year changes 7/1)

Would be nice to hear from Andrew........

If you are calculating how many hulls have been made in your model year, there is one other calculation to add to Dave's research.

Remember that for the first year of a NEW model, start with the hull number 10, then the second year, the first hull is 01.

Somewhere it would be helpful to see a list of the years when new models were introduced.

Happy New Tug Year (those of us in the north are looking forward to a spring launch),

Don

My HIN is FMLT2746C111, Jeff tells me that mine was the 46th 27 built.

Guess the numbering has gotten logical.

Little Debbie is HIN FMLT2701D112. I was told it is the first 2012 model. It was delivered in late May.

Well, I guess to see how many 27s before yours, we need to know how many 2011s were built. Yours was as mine started in January, yours in 2012, mine in 2011. Were there any 2010s?

I answered my own question Russ and Toni claim to have the second one built HIN 2712 picked up in June of 2010. So no 2010s. That would make mine the 36th built, not the 46th....wonder who is right. Even so makes the 27 a very popular model.

Still wonder what the number is of the last 2011 27.
