...put an island berth in their R-27?

Yes, it would be nice to have a 10-foot beam of an R-29, but I might forgo that if can get an island berth on an R-27. At my age, falling into an island-berth bed seems much more desirable than having to shoehorn my body into a V-berth.

Just sayin'

Me too on this, I'm big and old, just went from a R25 to a R29 for this among other reasons. You have a good point here John, the island berth would fit fine in the R27 even with the narrower beam. What's wide is the bathroom/shower off to the side here in the R29.

I'm sure it's possible.... would add some cost presumably and maybe need to make the adjacent toilet enclosure smaller... but I'm sure many would like it... but marketing may be the reason for RT not doing it. The island berth in the R-27 need not have to have access paths on both sides of the berth as I'm sure many would accept having just one to avoid the head first climbing onto the berth.

Having had the R-21 EC, R-25 and the R-27 I really do appreciate my R-29 CB's roominess and the comfort and ease of using the forward stateroom island berth. 😀
