Any suggestions of a boat launch between Cleveland and the Buffalo area that can handle a R-27? We are also looking for ideas of where to store our truck and trailer while we cruise the Erie Canal and Rideau Canal.

I’ve successfully launched a C28 from the Emerald Necklace Marina on the Rocky River - come down South into the metro park from Detroit Road (there is a low bridge in Berea if you come up heading North from too far south). It is a sleepy little Metroparks marina, I’ve never had a line, and folks around willing to help if you need it. A lot of kayakers enjoy the river, so you do have to be mindful as you head out onto the lake. There is a much bigger and busier public ramp just past Edgewater Beach/Marina further East closer to Cleveland as well, I haven’t tried that one yet, but it looks industrial sized.

I would second the idea of launching on the Rocky River at the Emerald Necklace Marina. You will be just east of downtown Cleveland where you could easily spend a day exploring. I’m pretty sure the marina would store your truck and trailer. We are life long Clevelanders and more than happy to help you if the time tables work out. Give me a call and we can discuss things further if you like.
