It seems that our Spot Messenger has started working again today! I activated it on the way to Des Moines and it tracked my progress. We will try it again tomorrow when we head from Des Moines to either Blakey Harbor or Blake Island for the night.

You can find the track here; http://share.findmespot.com/shared/face ... OFk0OXhNZU

Zuma is looking forward to playing with Karma in a couple weeks! We are heading over to stock and gas Zuma up on Sunday . Desolation Sound here we come!!!

Karma can't wait to go out and play with Zuma either!

Filled up with fuel today in Des Moines for $2.71 per gallon! Lowest price we have paid since November! We will obviously have to top off the fuel tanks before we depart but thats okay! Get it cheap while we can!

Also need to change the oil..... Right now we are at 190 hours!

No groceries needed though, just wine.... man can live on wine alone you know.

Also need to install the Sirius Radio Tuner and antenna. Yes that means the refrigerator has to come out again...... getting very good at it! I am also going to build a trip line with a float for my anchor. Really don't want to leave that behind... The list is getting shorter by the week.

Don't forget to fill your propane. Don't want to run out of that!

Like I said, the list is getting shorter! Already installed the new charts into the chart plotter.

Yep, you need that propane for all oysters on the grill!

Lyman took a trip to Fisheries last weekend and bought the place out... it was a 3 hour shopping spree, haven't seen the bill yet but I'm thinking we will have a spare of everything!!! And Taylor is looking forward to spending 3 weeks on Zuma with all the line and whipping twine. Me, I've got 6 new books, oh yea!!!!

What time is Karma leaving Des Moines?

Regards

Karma left Des Moines at 10:30. Sorry I did not see your question until this evening. We hung on the poles at Blake Island for the afternoon.

Can "Poppy's Legacy" join the playgroup? We can't wait to meet up with Zuma and Karma! Getting a little freaked out hearing that you spent three hours at fisheries getting stuff for Desolation Sound. I thought we were good to go. What add-ons or extra equipment (spare parts) do you experienced boaters favor and recommend to those of us "less in the know"? Other than a full wine cooler, of course! Man and woman CAN live on wine alone, as long as there is some baguette and cheese to go along with it!
😎 Harmony

All Right you guys you are making me jealous. I am land locked here in Anacortes, but let me know when you are shooting the rapids at Deception Pass and I will position myself on the bridge and take your pictures.

Harmony,
Of course you can join the play group...... and if you ask anyone that has ever spent any amount of time with Maureen and I, we always have cheese and crackers to go with our wine.... and maybe a little salami and pepperoni too! Sometimes some nice fresh apples or cherries will compliment the wine. If Zuma is along, Taylor will supply us (those who partake in it) with fresh crab..... It is all about eating, drinking, and just having a great time on the water. Now, of course, the drinking part does not ever start until we are firmly secure for the night......

As for spending three hours at Fisheries..... there are a number of items that have been suggested that all vessels should carry.

Spare Parts:
1. Impeller
2. Fuel Filters (2)
3. Serpentine Belt
4. Metric Allen Wrench Set
5. Metric socket set
6. Motor Oil
7. Coolant
Anchoring and docking gear:
1. Good anchor with a chain and rope rode
2. Backup Anchor with chain and rope rode
3. One - two hundred foot line for stern tie
4. Two of the “round” fenders to be used when rafting
5. Suggest changing your anchor light to LED bulb
Charts and Navigation:
1. Paper Canadian Charts for all areas we plan to cruise
2. Update Garmin with Canadian Charts
3. Cruise guides to areas we plan to cruise
4. Waggoners guide
5. Canadian Flag (Smaller than your US flag)
Items for Customs:
These are the items that the Customs people asked us as we were clearing in. If you hesitate or need to look for something it can send a red flag and mean your vessel will need to be inspected (Speaking with experience here……). Suggest you review Canadian Customs Page for what food items you can bring in as well as pets. We will be in Gibsons on our second night which has a full service grocery store where you can purchase your fresh fruits and vegetables.
1. List of Names of all aboard
2. Passport Numbers
3. State in which you are a resident
4. Country of Citizenship
5. Name of Vessel
6. Vessel Registration Number
7. Hailing Port
8. Vessel Coast Guard Registration Number (Documentation Number)
9. Fire arms on board (you need to answer no to this question, if you normally carry firearms, leave them at home)
10. Amount of Alcohol on board (two bottles of wine per person is the limit)
Items for socializing (if you want to)
1. Fixings for Appetizer’s (In the event you should choose to attend the evening “social hours”)
2. Crab “cracking tool”
3. Crab pick
4. Beverages of choice (alcohol and non)
Misc:
1. Have a plan for water, not all water north is potable.
2. Have a plan for garbage, not all marinas will take your garbage.
a. Take items such as crackers out of their boxes to conserve space as well as reducing your garbage.
b. Suggest using a Brita pitcher to filter water out of your water tank for drinking and cooking. This eliminates the bottles.
3. A tender or Kayak if you have one.
4. Insect repellent, as well as “After Bite” for once you do get bitten.
5. Sunscreen
6. Camera
7. Binoculars
8. Inspect your safety gear making sure all is in working order as well in date (Flares).

We are now less than four weeks away from the Cruise North!!!

Sorry Heb, no shooting the rapids. We are going across the sound as long as the weather permits.

Spot is still working! Lets hope it continues for our trip north in three weeks!
