Who are you Ranger Tug in Southport NC?

Beautiful weather the last few days here in North Carolina, sunny 75 degrees, light wind. We just got back from a cruise on the ICW south of Southport NC on Banjo

We spied a Ranger Tug as we went past at Indigo Point Marina, near Southport, maybe a 27 foot. There are only 2 of us in North Carolina on the Ranger Tug map, so we are excited to see another. Who are you?

By the way, any of you on the ICW near Lockwood Folly Inlet between Southport and Holden Beach, there is shoaling and a misplaced red marker and several boats have gone aground, but not Banjo since we only draw a small amount and watch the tides!

I just bought my Ranger Tug, "Pea Pod", but plan to change her name to "Annabelle". She is a 2008, 25 ft, and comes from Folly Beach, SC. I am keeping her at Indigo Plantation Marina. I do love my Tug! I brought her up here over New Years. I will be getting out as much as I can...when not working.

Please tell me more about Southport. Currently (well, not currently) enjoying exploring Puget Sound, the San Juans and Canada on Sunrise, our Ranger 29. However, when my wife retires we are considering moving closer to the grandkids and have looked at St. James Plantation. When visiting St. James last year, we saw a Ranger in their dry dock storage area. Would love to hear more about the area and exploring up and down the coast. Seriously considering putting in at Apalachicola and cruising to Wilmington or New Bern before deciding on where to permanently drop anchor. Sound feasible?

Hello Pea Pod. Banjo is about a mile or so south of you at St James Plantation Marina. There is also an R 29 here in St James named Snug. So there are now 3 Ranger Tugs within a mile of each other just south of Southport. We should have a rendezvous !

Fred on Sunrise .. bring your boat here and we will have 4! Southport and St James (which is an upscale resort area about 5 miles south of Southport) are great areas. On the ICW with easy access to the Atlantic and many things to do. Southport is a neat historic seafaring town, many good restaurants, some have slips where you can dock your boat. We live inland at Chapel Hill, NC and chose to keep Banjo at St James because of the security, amenities, nearness to Southport and because it is a protected hurricane hole.

If you are going to trailer your boat to the East Coast,I would think putting in on the east side of Florida and coming up to North Carolina on the ICW would be the easiest route. If you put in on the Florida gulf coast you will have a long trip to get to the east coast either around the keys or across the canal in south Florida. The problem with the canal is that it frequently closes when the water is low. Think about trailering to Jacksonville, Florida or even coming on up to North Carolina and putting in here.

I think we will need to have a rendezvous, next time you come down! My son had told me about a Ranger Tug at St. James,and I have yet to get over there to check it out. I am over there frequently, but visiting friends, not at the Marina.

I am fortunate to be able to work from home, which is why I chose to live in Southport. I have never lived in a place where there are so many people enjoying life in so many ways.

TorTugaToo is a 04 Ranger 21 just arrived up river at Carolina Beach. She has very little time in the water and needs a little TLC but hope to have her out in next couple of weeks and Southport will be our first destination.

Picking up a 2013 R27 in a couple of weeks from NJ and bringing back home to Durham, NC. My wife and I are real excited. A couple of years from retirement and we are planning ahead.

Our home marina is Southport Marina. Currently at Deep Point Marina until repairs are completed to Southport Marina.

On the way back to Southport after wintering in Marathon. Should arrive late March. Southport neighbors just picked up a 2018 R31 CB in FT Pierce. We are traveling together now and both keep our boats at Southport Marina.

I'm down at Bucksport Marina on waterway just South of Myrtle Beach. Took delivery of a 2022 R 31 CB about three weeks ago. Ordered it last May, so suffered for many months. Delivered to New Bern and Bryan Harris of Pocket Yacht, my wife and I brought it down.
Hope to see some of you on the ICU.

Sea Shanty (R29 Classic) and Tug Life (R31 CB) are just south of Charleston, returning to Southport. We’ll be in Isle Of Palms Friday; Butler Island anchorage on the Waccamaw Saturday; Little River Inlet anchorage Sunday and Southport Monday.

Sounds like there are a lot of Tugs in Southport. You should have a Rendezvous there!
