I HAVE BEEN WATCHING THIS AD:
https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/boa ... 12693.html

FOR SOME TIME, I WOULD LIKE AN EC, PRICE ON THIS BOAT IS LOOKING PRETTY GOOD ??

NOTE THE SALES GUY SAYS THE BOAT IS READY TO SELL, NOT READY TO USE!!
I HAVE ASKED ABOUT MAINTENENCE RECORDS FROM THEM AND GOTTEN NO RESPONSE.

ANYONE KNOW ABOUT THIS BOAT AND IT'S CONDITION? ALSO IDEAS ON REALISTIC PRICE/ OFFER TO MAKE?
I WOULD MOST APPRECIATE THE INFORMATION.
THANKS, JOHND

What exactly does "ready to sell, not ready to use" mean? Could that be why the boat hasn't sold?
I see it has a home-brew bait tank and associated plumbing. Maybe that's part of the problem.
I looked at several r-21s before I bought mine and i'ts surprising how many really bad do-it-yourself modifications are out there.

I would get a marine inspector onboard to do a survey, then you'll know for sure if it's worth it.

.. I would follow up on this boat with a reputable marine mechanic to help you out .. you can start it up in place using a fresh water hose source, 5 gallon buck and short length of hose that fastens to the inlet on the engine and if no glaring problems show up, arrange for a sea trial .. that hull looks to be in super shape and there are several expensive projects been done .. the bait well makes me wonder if it was used for guiding or some other commercial aspect, which wouldn't dissuade me as far as checking it out .. it can always be dismantled if everything else worked out

The price is fair. I second the post about having it inspected. A full blown marine survey probably isn't necessary but I think I'd have an engine oil analysis done.
The same boat is also listed in YachtWorld.

I'm still puzzled by the term..."ready to sell, not ready to use."

For the record, the words, "Not ready to use" aren't in the ad - just the phrase "ready to sell." That would say to me that he had done everything necessary to insure the boat is "ready to go" and may also mean that he is motivated. Looks like a pretty nifty 21 from the photos.

It may not have sold, yet, because of the time of the year and the nasty cold weather that most of the country is experiencing right now. Getting to see it close up and in person should provide an answer... and a sale. 😉
