Hi random technical question. for those with an AIS transceiver installed like the vesper marine 8000 with wifi. anyone know if the GPS coordinates from the ais system get sent over wifi and can be used by navionics on the ipad?

I know if it will send the NMEA data like AIS targets but was wondering about the GPS coordinates.

thanks

From their website it supports Navionics for both GPS and AIS.

Navionics Yes Yes One of the most popular navigation apps available for Android and IOS devices Navionics incorporates nautical charts with map, satellite and terrain overlays, intuitive interface for panning and zooming. Tap on the chart to mark a waypoint or display local information on weather and tides, wind forecasts, currents and moon/sun phases. The app is free, but you must purchase charts for regions and other upgrades such as auto-routing and advanced map options.

Cheers,

Bruce

ah! missed that. thanks Bruce.
