i was frustrated trying to clean my windows and finally decided to call Diamond Sea Glaze to ask them what they would recommend. They told me there is only product they recommend, KLEENTEC, available through a Canadian distributer. It is a product that has a three part process. The first part removes the salt and other contaminates from the glass. The second part seals the glass, which is quite porous , and creates a very smooth surface. the third and last application creates a water resistant surface much like rain-x. I will try it and let you know how it works. This product is used by many of the fishing and crabbing boats in the North Pacific. They say it is long lasting and only requires a water washdown.

I appreciate the tip from DSG. Our C-Dory uses the same window mfg and we have had good luck using vinegar/water to clean the salt spray off the windows, then coating with Rain-X (they make the regular stuff for the exterior side of the glass and the "fog-free" stuff for the inside). We keep the vinegar/water mix in a squeeze bottle and when there is salt spray that dries quickly on the window, I reach out with the squeeze bottle and squirt some on the windshield, then run the wipers.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Tried Googling KLEENTEC but their website page listing cleaning products is under construction. What's the distributors name. Sounds like Jim's solution would be a lot cheaper!!

Hi Stuart,
I read your reply and I wanted you to know that for Ian to ship product to the US he has to cross the border into the states to make it work otherwise it is not cost effective but he needs sufficient orders to make it worth he effort, however, your contact information is correct. He therefore is looking for a distributor in the states and I asked Ranger to consider becoming distributers. Also I saw other responses which identified alternate methods. I want all to know that with the KLEENTEC product I understand that it probably needs only one application a year under normal use and rincing with water periodically. Again I was impressed that the product is used by the fishing and crabbing vessels in the Bering Sea.

I received my KLEENTEC product the other day and applied it to my four front windows on my R-29. I am very impressed with the product so far. I can already tell that it is far superior to Rain-X. The true test will be how does it stand up in time. I was told that I would only need to apply it a couple times a year. If I start to see any premature wearing I will post it.
I bought the small boat kit and I have enough to do the front windows at least 6 to 8 more times. The cost of the kit with shipping was just under $50.00. I really think that it is going to be well worth every penny. I was also impressed with how easy all the treatment steps were. It took me 15 min to get the windows ready for the treatment. Then I was to leave the treatment on for two hours, Then they give you a cleaner to finish up with. I think I am going to do my truck windshield also.
I'll stay in touch on the product,

Stuart...... Spirit of Gratitude 🙂

It appears kleentecmarine.com no longer exists.

I just sent him a email. I will let you know what I find out.
I have the product and love it!

Ok, Here we go. I heard from Ian and he said that they are working on the website. In the meantime you can contact him at igomm@kleentecmarine.com if you would like to order the product.
I will personally never use rain-x again! I am truly sold on this product, For what it's worth.

Yeah, not sure who nancyd589 is. But as I said before, I have alerted Ian the rep for the product and he is on it.
It sure would be nice to be able to wipe out all spam with one click! It seems to be getting smarter these days.
