Wine Cooler Removal-Resale Impact

Just removed the cooler and the door across from it that the admiral always stubs her toe on

We removed it from our Cutwater 28 and there’s a large cabinet now that was useless space with the wine cooler installed. Had Fluid Motion make a cabinet to match for $100 and sold the wine cooler for $75.

Who did you talk to at FM to have the Door made. I was told they could not do it.

This thread has spurred me into action. Alright, my wife has spurred me into action. Whatever.

I got a bid today from Custom Teak Marine for a custom raised, flat panel cabinet door with frame and hinges for $275. Not cheap, but this opens up a precious commodity: storage. None of the other standard cabinet doors on the web are the right dimension.

Talk to Richard Becker in the parts department to obtain the matching cabinet door.

I ordered all the teak from iboats.com. Louvers, stiles, side rails (pre-drilled for louvers), dowels for about $150. Enough wood for door and frame. Hinges are made by Seadog. As said before, the 15x15 or 15x20 Pre-made doors will not work.

i think im going to convert some of the space in mine to a electronics rack for. onboard wifi (i have older Garmin gear), raspberry Pi, LTE modems/router

Do you think the removal of the wine cooler hurts the boat at resale? We may modify the opening so the opening may not accommodate a plug-and-play re-installation.

Wine cooler can also be used to store fruits and vegetables so this gives you more "refrigerator" space, especially if you go with an ice maker in the cockpit.
