Wine Fridge Removal

Am I just a certified DA or is there something I am missing about removing the Wine Fridge? Of course the first thing I did was remove the trim thinking it retained the fridge. Then I "tugged" on it. No pun intended! I am trying to check the fuses on the control board of the main A/C unit. It appears that through the fridge is the only way to get to it.

I don't know what model or era your Ranger is, but on the earlier R25's the fridge was basically put in and the cabinet built around it - there is no way to get it out other than destroying the cabinet, fridge or both. I discovered this on my 2007 R25 when the fridge stopped working on DC. I finally decided to just get a good portable cooler for times when we're on the hook - eliminates a major battery drain as well. Someday I may just get out the Sawzall and remove it in pieces.

When I had Wefings Marine relocate the radio on my R-27, the fridge came out in a snap. Four screws, I think, and then it slid right out. I was surprised because I had read in a thread here about the problem on moving the fridge but not a problem on the 27. Maybe the factory has a "secret" process for your boats.

Thanks! The fridge did come out with four screws and was the best way to get to the starboard side A/C controller. I still have not got the secret to the wine cooler.

Pat,
You can access the backside of the wine chiller by removing the carpeted panels in the midship cabin. This is more than likely where whatever is holding it in place is. Once you remove these panels though you may be able to access the fuses you are looking for.

The midship panel was the answer for the main A/C unit but we did have to remove the refrigerator for the forward A/C Unit and access to the circulating pump relay panel. The panel furnished with my R29 did not have the overcurent protection on the board so it is likely we will be getting new controller boards. The Tech was able to track current in and out of the boards but we have no display or functionality. There was a slight smell of burned plastic at the controller.
