1) Packing gland water (the drip for the shaft), how does one "put pink in it", or, does it NOT have a "reservoir" of water therefore, when the boat comes out of the water for the winter... there is no water in the line anyway. ??

2) After the Engine, Generator and Air Con filter trap reservoirs are flushed with Pink, am I supposed to leave the Valves in the closed position for the winter? And leave the pink in the reservoirs for the winter... or, once the boat is pulled, do I open the reservoirs and allow whatever is in the through hull piping to drain out... ??

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Ok, how about just #1 then ?

Thanks in advance...

I believe the packing gland water supply (small hose) is from the raw water pump on the engine. So if you run pink antifreeze through the strainer while engine is running. It should also push the pink antifreeze to the packing gland.

Maybe someone else will chime in about opening the sea cock and draining after boat is pulled.
From my view I think it doesn’t matter if it’s drained or left closed.

Thank you M&S !

Are you on the hard or in the water in the Then some water will be in the valve and hose to the strainer. I would close the valve and if necessary, vacuum the water out. If you are on the hard leave it open to allow residual water out.

I keep my tug on a lift, so my response is strictly based on my experience. I have no hard evidence I am right, but it seems to make sense.

I will be winterizing in the water... thank you.

After pulling the boat I close the cocks to keep the critters out and cover each exhaust port with a porous plug that I cut from a piece of roof ridge vent material.
