What do y'all use in the winter on board after winterizing? We intend to still go on board the boat - including staying aboard overnight but don't want to have to always run up to the head at the marina. There is certainly a wide range available from gel powder packs to a Homer bucket from Home Depot.

I used to line the bowl with double trash bags with a "Pampers Ultra" inside (rip the diaper's outside cover).
They're good for more than one use....also great for absorbing spills aboard too.

Thanks for the idea. I can't see my wife going for that - though certainly an alternative. Any other ideas?

Check out website http://www.cleanwaste.com
These are military grade gel-filled bags that can be disposed of in any trash can. The gel absorbs and covers waste and is less smelly than the regular head.

Thanks Fred. That looks like a less expensive, more environmentally friendly version of some packs we bought a while back at West marine..Which do you use? The sank-pack liners?

The gold standard are the "Go Anywhere" ones but they're really expensive. The Sani Bags do the trick nicely - just take a little practice to settle them on easiyl. The PeeWee is pretty cool too! All work as advertised.

I have used my head a lot after winterizing the boat. I make sure I winterize the lines and have the holding tank pumped out then I just keep a jug on non-tox in the bathroom and pour it in the bowel to flush .. So far no issues but I am told the non toxic antifreeze will dry out rubber things over time.. If I am using it a lot then I will also put some regular antifreeze down as it works better to keep things unfrozen. There is a truck will come by and do a pump out if needed. At least where I was. The others option is to head south until it doesn't go below freezing any more.. We are trying that option this year.. It is working great so far .
