How do I winterize yarman 30 diesel. I live in Connecticut. First year with R21EC.
Thanks AK

There are a number of old posts on this topic. I installed a Y valve on the thru hull just aft of the entry to the cabin. Then I have a heater hose (about 2' long) attached to one side of the Y valve. I shut off the water intake and turn on the hose which is inserted into a standard one gallon jug of RV antifreeze. I operate the engine until I see pink coming out the exhaust. Otherwise, put the same antifreeze in the water supply and flush it down the marine head (if installed.) Not a major project at all once you have installed that valve.

Thanks, I will be winterizing this weekend, I'll let you know how I make out.

Thanks for the reply's
After the seawater intake there is a ballcock shutoff valve, accessed through a deck cover.
I shut that off, after that there is a capped male garden hose connection. I cut a garden hose about five feet long, inserted it into a bucket, ran the engine until the exhaust water came out pink and shut the engine off (about two gallons).
I did the same with my head.
thanks again._AK

You did good. Simple huh? You should pump your fresh water dry and then pour a little of the pink stuff down the drain. I don't like to put the pink stuff in the fresh water tank - it takes too much flushing to get it out in the spring. If the boat is on a trailer, then remove the drain plug in the keel and disconnect the batteries.

Thanks Rick
I took the batteries out today. Ran the fresh water dry. Thanks to you I added a bit of pink to the sink.
Can't wait until spring. 🙂

Running the fresh water dry may leave enough water in the tank and lines to cause damage if it freezes.

I always add antifreeze to the tank, run some through all lines, hot and cold, and flush it in the spring.

Don,t forget to add some to the shower sump or that could freeze. I have a fresh water toilet so I flush it several times to insure the supply line is full of antifreeze as is the exit piping. I flush it several times to put some in the holding tank so any water remaining after pump out is protected and there is enough that I can run the macerator pump to protect it and the lines running to and from it.

Then run some through engine and generator.

Then run some through the sea water wash down pump.

And don,t forget to run some through the air conditioners.

I run enough through so that the water coming out the thru hull fittings is a nice dark pink. Used 18 gallons of the stuff this year but I am confident that all will be well in the spring.

Ranger has a printed winterization procedure. I left it in the boat with other papers so I do not have the link where I got it but Ranger should be able to get you a copy. Gives a step by step outline to follow.

Todd, The R21EC is a very basic boat and does not have all the extraneous stuff like hot water heaters, showers, etc.
