I would be interested in a solution as well. When we had our orientation the representative implied it was common on the R-25. It would be nice to have the full wipe of the blade.

Great timing! Just came back from our first overnight trip of the year this morning, and our wipers were all over the place (we had a few laughs over it).

Is this a new issue or has it always been this way?

I'm not sure what year your R27OB is, but I'd start by checking the set screw that secures the wiper arm to the motor shaft. If it's not tight, that can cause the problems you're having. If your boat uses the Marinco AFI 1000 motor like our 2021 R27, the set screw will be under a plastic cap that where the wiper arm attaches to the shaft. The plastic cap will hinge up or you can remove it. Some leave it off permanently so it doesn't trap saltwater. Search the archives for more info.

There are countless threads on wiper arm replacement and not one mentions how to access the set screw on the arm? When the wiper is in the return position, the set screw is on the top where an Allen wrench can’t get to it. How can you make the wipers stop in mid position to access the set screw?

I too have the same question. I also want to change the sweep so it actually clears the area of the window I need to look through and the video will help if I can only figure out how to safely access the wiper motor (another time I wish I was over 6 feet tall).

Try turning on your wiper and when it reaches a point where you can access the set screw, turn off the house battery switch. Your wiper will stop at that spot.

The most impact I've had to our wiper operation is when I changed the starboard wipers sweep direction. Now, both wipers sweep opposite directions, from the boat's center to outwards. Big difference for the helm seat.
