Wrench size

What size wrench is needed to adjust the shaft compression fitting? 2015 R27 Volvo D3.

You will need two wrench's if you want a fixed wrench. The locking nut is a different size compared to the adjusting nut. I purchased two adjustable plumbers wrenches and fit them to size then I pinned them ( 1/4-20 nut and bolt) to the exact size needed so that they would fit properly and not loosen when using them. It is not the easiest access, to loosen the nuts. The small size of the plumbers wrenches makes it much easier than the pipe wrenchs that most recommend using. I am posting a picture of what I made up. The wrench size for one of them is written on the wrench.

One trick I learned from an old timer is to loosen the locking nut by tapping it with a small hammer or tool in the direction that will loosen it. Once it breaks loose, back it away from the main stuffing nut which can then be adjusted. Reverse the process to tighten it up at the end.
