Hi guys. Have often wondered if anyone has used their Yami kicker to see what kind of effeciency you could get versus the main engine? Louie

No, but I've wondered the same thing. For purposes of having some idea of what kind of range I have with a 6 gal tank of gas.

Although I can't imagine listening to that little motor screaming at full throttle for a long time, the Yamaha 9.9 consumes .95 gph at 5500 RPM's - according to an internet source. I recall our R-23 reached around 6 mph with the 9.9 at full throttle - under ideal conditions. Say 6.3 mpg. I think the fuel burn would get better at a lower speed.

By comparison, our main engine (200 Yamaha) gets 2.3 mpg while cruising at 22 mph under ideal conditions.

George and everyone else. It could be interesting if the new Yami 25hp, which weighs 126 pounds, was used instead of the 9.9 which weighs 87 pounds. 41 pounds doesn't seem to be that much more on the transom? The 20hp would be 15 pounds lighter than the 25 hp. Now we are down to 26 pounds. These numbers are from a 2017 Yami brochure. What do you think guys? Thank you. Louie
