In preparation for delivery of our new R25OB I’m researching scheduled maintenance. In the service manual it shows an oil filter wrench that I’d describe as a cap style that attaches to a ratchet handle wrench. I’m guessing this style is shown as there’s not a lot of clearance for a conventional oil filter wrench. What have others used that change there own Yamaha outboard oil n filter? Next up is the lower unit. In changing the gear fluid what hand pumps have others use to fill the gear case with fresh fluid?

The Yamaha maintenance schedule I published for the F300 should be the same for the F250, since they're the same engine and service manual. I do all my own maintenance on our F300, T9.9 and F2.5. I found a place online that put together a 20hr and 100hr maintenance kit. The 20hr kit comes with the pump needed for the lower unit. The 100hr kit expects that you still kept that pump, but adds sparks plugs.

I bought the oil filter wrench

For the Lower gear oil, there's a pump.

Thank you Channel Surfing. You’ve put a lot into this spreadsheet, very helpful for us fellow OB Tugnutters.

I also primarily use partsvu.com for all my Yamaha needs. I only run Yamaha OEM parts, oil, filters, etc... They make it easy offering 20hr and 100hr maintenance kits. The link they have to Yamaha engine schematics for finding part numbers and seeing how things go together is great. Their prices are also reasonable. They aren't like amazon though, usually takes a week or two for delivery. I always re-order for the next 100hour immediately upon completion of our 100 hour maintenance, so it's on the shelf in the garage, ready.

The maintenance doesn't take all that long nor is it all that complicated.
