2016 Yamaha F200XCA, 1,200 Hours. R-23. Mostly salt water.
I’ve had my VST tank cleaned twice and the VST filter changed/cleaned.
It’s a screen mesh. Engine had difficulty getting above 4,200 rpm.
I have replaced the other two filter before the VST, regularly as well.
There is also a tiny cooling radiator in the vst that prevents vapor lock that is located in the lower, separate section of the VST. The radiator chamber is sealed with a cover and rubber gasket. Over time the rubber gasket recess into which it sits can become corroded over time, preventing a good seal…..and requiring replacement of the lower section of the VST tank itself.
Had mine all cleaned and replaced in June this year by Yamaha dealer and there was no problem getting the parts. RPM issue solved. Also I have been using non ethanol and Yamaha ring free for past 600 hours.
Good luck.
