I bought my Ranger RC21c a couple of years ago, it has minimum hours (like 30) on it, a 2011 model with the Yanmar 30 hp.
Last year I had to get a couple disks replaced in my neck and never got the boat out. changed the oil and charged the batteries etc. Today I was thinking I would start her up, change the oil and prime her for the season. Batteries were quite low, so I boosted it and she started right up, had a hose attached for the exhaust, let the motor run for about 15 minutes to get warm, then it wouldn't shut off. off switch and stop button we're a no go, I finally figured out the kill switch on the engine. Has anyone seen this before, no lights on the dash, batteries were all in the on position.

Good afternoon. I haven’t had or seen that particular issue but it’s sounds like the solenoid switch is either stuck or bad. Try pushing the kill button on the dash while someone looks to see if the solenoid on the engine is moving. It might just need a few jiggles.

Could be a bad or stuck solenoid, A loose or bad wire from switch to solenoid or no power from key to push button stop switch.
PS the old R-21 had a pull cord front the engine fuel shut off to the cabin.
Good luck on the fix! Bob

I had a Yanmar 30 in a different boat and had the same issue. I discovered that the 'ignition' key had to be on for the kill switch to work.

Yes the key has to be in the on position to deliver power to the kill switch! Bob
