Happy to join this group, thank you. I have a Cutwater C26 with a Yanmar 4BYC 180 horse. The marina just snapped a glow plug and is now saying it will cost me $10K to get it fixed. Odd, I'm not the one who snapped it, but it's going to cost me $10K? They were kind enough to offer a "re-power" for $30 to $40K. This started with first of the season launch and an engine alarm. The yanmar ran fine, as you know, it will even if one GP is not working, but the alarm going off does ruin the boating experience. Seems that alarm cannot be bypassed without disabling all alarms.
Here is my question for anyone with Yanmar (BMW?) diesel experience in the confines of the C26 engine bay, can I do an extraction of the broken GP with the engine in the boat? I know I'll have to remove the intake manifold to get to the GP's and that's fine, but anyone know if I'll have enough room to drill and extract?
Thank you in advance - Eric
