Hi, I have a problem with a yanmar 6by260z engine. It cranks but wont start. I have tried to get a jaltest 3 pin cable but cant get one. (Can't be sent to my location unfortunately)
Can anyone Help with the pinout so i can make my own? I think i read here a while ago that someone had a description of how to make one.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi, I made up one of these cables out of curiosity of what data I could read from the ECU of our 4BY2-180 (2011 R-27). Using my car OBD code reader (BlueDriver) I was able to monitor fuel rail pressure and a few other sensors. With that reader, there wasn't much value in the OBD cable, glad it was cheap to make.

Disclaimer: follow these instructions at your own risk. Verify all pinouts prior to connecting to ECU.

The parts used were a 3-pin Deutch type connector (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C1GG24LZ) and OBD pigtail (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08291F87X). Since there were only three pins the wiring was simple, there's power, ground and the K-line (see OBD pinout below).

You'll be looking for this connector on the ECU wiring harness. On our engine the color codes were pretty obvious with the red and black for power and the striped for K-line.

Good luck and let me know if you find a code reader that actually pulls anything useful from the ECU.
