Yanmar Engine MFG Change

Yanmar, Mack Boring had a large display at the Newport, RI boat show. Speaking with the Mack Boring rep he related the 4BY series with the BMW engine has been discontinued. It will be replaced next year with a Toyota diesel version. Yanmar will continue to supply parts for the BY series for the next 15- 20 years according to the rep.

That's interesting. The parents of one of my work colleagues has an R27. They were going to start the Loop in May, but they experienced overheating. It was eventually traced to a 2" crack in #3 cylinder. Mack Boring said that replacement long blocks were unavailable. The owners' mechanic was able to obtain one from Canada.
