Zinc Replacement

Good afternoon.

I berth my EC 21 in the San Francisco Bay. To establish a baseline I hauled Orion out after three months. The three zincs are about 50% gone. On replacing these I have two questions.

First: Should I clean the area with any specific product or cleaner?

Next: Should any anti-sieze be used on the hardware?

It would not hurt to clean up the areas at all. I use anti seize on the prop nut do to the fast rotation. I have seen many fly off. All the materials the zincs are applied to are stainless steel and there isnt much you can do to hurt them. Make it look pretty if you wish 😀

Andrew, Do you mean lock tight rather than anti seize on prop shaft nut?

I vote locktite. I lost several prop nut zincs before I started using it..
