On the presale survey of Sunshine, it was found that the prop zinc and thruster zincs, were gone. Is there suppose to be a zinc on the keel plate? Also, none on the engine?

Our R25 doesn't have an annode on the keel's stainless steel skid plate. Not sure if you need one -- the plate's not tied to the electrical system ground and is only in contact with non-conducting hull/keel frame. I did add a teardrop zinc to top of rudder and saucer zincs to the trim tabs. Rudder annode is probably not necessary as a conntunity check will show the rudder and prop zinc are connected. BTW I check continuity on the prop zinc pretty regularly. I have found corrision build up after a month in water to break the contact despite the screw and oversized washers.

Sorry forgot to add that our 110 doesn't have an engine annode either. You'll see comments on the Tugnuts site about engine zincs for some of the other Ranger tug engines but not for the 110 Yanmars nor is there any mention the maintenance manuals. A few years back when I wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something on annual maint, I asked the expert--Andrew-- about it. He replied that they weren't needed.

Thanks for your input Bill. Looking forward to meeting many of you this summer.

Bill,
When you refer to "engine anode", is that also called a "pencil zinc"? I was looking for that, also. That only zincs listed on the parts order form are the Trim Tab, Thruster, Prop and Generator.
Thanks,
Joe

On the 110 Yanmar there are no zincs. Only zincs are as mentioned previously unless one was added to rudder. I would suggest installing a galvanic isolator if boat is kept in a slip quite a bit.
