Does anyone have a list of zinc locations & part numbers for R25 (Lenabell has Mase Genset & Yanmar engine). After 6 months in Tennessee River I hauled Lenabell for the winter. Zinc on prop looks new. However, the small pencil zinc from the Genset cooler was completely gone. Not sure of original size but couldn't have been very big considering small size of cooler. I assume this one needs frequent replacement in future.

Manuals for Yanmar engine do not show location of zincs but I assume there is one on seawater cooler. I will crawl down & look when weather gets better.

I understand from previous post that the thrusters have easy access zincs. My rudder & trim tabs do not appear to have zincs.

Is there a zinc on the AC seawater side of the condensor?

Zinc part numbers would be helpful.

Definately a question for Andrew. I know Ranger started with only placing zincs on the prop nut, and added the trim tab zincs later for some. But I also thought that you'd use something else when operating solely in fresh water?

I would very much like the factory to tell me what is recommended on zincs.

I have prop, thrusters, but i 'd like a complete recommended list for a 2008 R 25.

Mr David Livingston told us at the Seattle Boat Show that the factory can provide the list. So, could someone please provide it?

I guess the responses mean my question was valid. One other thing I went to Boaters world & West marine. Both say I need either a zinc part number or bring in existing zinc to order. Neither can order from just knowing the equipment (Yanmar engine model, Mase generator, etc). So part numbers would be very helpful.

As long as we're at it, part numbers for the R21-EC would be helpful as well.

For a very informative article explaining galvanic corrosion and how to build your own corrosion meter to measure galvanic voltage to see if your underwater metal has adequate protection form the zincs that are installed. Go To:

Sounds to me like we would all like to have a fairly definitive list of zinc needs...Meaning...recommended locations,
sizes or order numbers, and any other information necessary. Not too much to ask.

While i understand the constantly evolving nature of Ranger tugs, i think this kind of detailed follow up is what we have come to expect as the boat changes .

I will work on posting a Zinc part number list tomorrow for our R21 and R25.

Thanks, Andrew. Dealers need that list. Customers who need to replace a zinc will call us to ask which one and where to get it, and "Uh, I don't know" is not what they want to hear. We're not born knowing this stuff! 😉

That is why I make my cell phone available to all of our dealers and customers. 😀 I have posted the zinc numbers and are now available!

Andrew--

Tuggin Aweigh (Hull #7) is equiped with a 110 hp Yanmar. Your posting lists zincs for the 150 HP Yanmar and 130 hp Cummins. Does this mean that the 110 Yanmar engine has no zincs?

Since Tuggin Aweigh is an '07 model, how many total zincs are required on the vessel. Our future holds a loop trip-i.e. both salt and fresh water use--any recommendations?

I check the web site everyday (or more), it's comforting to know that we can reach the factory/customer service with a few key strokes.

Hi there Frank. Good question as I had forgot to mention that in my list. The 75hp and 110hp do not have pencil zincs in the engine. I am working on a couple questions as to what type of zinc the genset has and if the AC units have zincs. On your tug Frank nothing has changed zinc wise other then the engine. Trim tab zincs only got added on boats that the customer requested.

I will update everyone on the Genset and airconditioning portion tomorrow. Talk to you soon!

Friends,

This is the kind of customer service that I continue to rave about. Andrew makes himself available and does everything within his power to respond to the request of those of us who are owners. Not only is this built into the culture of Ranger Tug but kudos for Andrew for not only getting it but putting in the extra hours to make it happen.

Let's face it boats are expensive and it is so reassuring to know that we have the factory in our corner. In my opinion this is a huge selling point and the one of the primary reasons why I am a happy Ranger Tug owner. It is also why I believe Ranger is doing well in an economic recession where others are failing.

Jim Collins, author of Good To Great and Built To Last claims in today's economy the companies that will survive are those who are utterly clear about their core values, who hire the right people ie. Andrew, and who are able to look past the current crisis.

I have yet to have a problem with my Tug that Ranger has not been willing to resolve to my satisfaction or connect me with the proper resources to resolve the issue.

It is why my bride Kim and I spent a wonderful afternoon on Puget Sound Monday. Snow was falling and we were nice & toasty inside the cabin of Gratitude crusing along at 13.2 knots at 3100 rpms. The boat performed flawlessly.

Thank you Andrew for your hard work and to the entire Team for making a great product, constantly seeking to improve it and standing behind it.

Owners we are fortunate.

I second the the words of praise given by the crew of Gratitude. However, it goes beyond Andrew. It goes to Jeff, John, the dealers and the entire crew at Ranger Tugs.

Many times people shop strictly by price. You have to always remember though, it is not what you pay for something, it is what you get for what you pay. With a Ranger Tug, you not only get a great boat that everyone wants to know and talk about, to a group of people behind that tug that believe in what they are doing. I have only owned one other boat that the builder stood behind like John and his company do. That was Frank Butlers company, Catalina Yachts. Is it any question as to why Ranger and Catalina have gotten together to sell boats? They both believe in what they are building and support the folks that spend their hard earned cash on one of them.

You may pay a bit more for your tug from Ranger, but you will not find any other group of people who believe in them like the folks at Ranger Tugs.

Great job to each and everyone of you!

The crew of Solitude, David and Maureen

My local Cummins marine dealer has never heard of a Cummins QSD 150. I went on line and Googled "Cummins zinc #811487" with no luck. Does anyone have a good source for zinc #811487 and other Cummins QSD parts? I pulled the zinc (7/8" socket) on the back end of the after-cooler to find that the very short zinc is ¾ gone. Does anyone know if the zinc threaded or pressed into the bronze plug?

Henry, you might bring up this website. I have registered but because I don't have a Cummins Engine and access to a serial number, I can't see the service info. Go ahead and register at least for the free stuff, not sure how much is there but there's something which is better than nothing,.., 😉

Tanks to Andrew we have a index for Zincs and I am ordering replacements. This index lists a MASE Number for the air cooler on the Genset. Has anyone replaced this pencil zinc with a standard "off-the-shelf" zinc (E-1, E-2, E-3,???) I am having trouble getting any help from the MASE website or their listed dealers.

If any of you have not checked your genset zinc please do so. It was completely gone after 6 months in Tennessee River water. I was unable to determine original length as only 1/2 inch of green crud was left. It appears to be a frequent replacement item. Fortunately it is easy to get to.

So far, I agree with you, Solitude. (We haven't been aboard our 25' yet.) And not far behind, kudos go to Tugnuts and its contributors--all of you--for the wealth of information you provide. Thanks! Norb
