Zipper lubrication

Ok, I've never seen this topic here, but I know opinions will be as varied as to what the best socks are to wear. I thought about this cause I was getting ready to order something to help zippers move more freely. I've used a few things over the years, stuff like beeswax, bar soap, and paraffin. Never found what I felt was best, but would like to see what others use to free those testy zippers. I'd like to add that I don't use anything until they show signs of resistance. If it's salt residue, then I give it a good cleaning with a scrub brush and clean (fresh) water. Any thoughts or experiences?

Lip balm. I use it on the snaps also. A regular periodic maintenance item.

Zipper Wax, really, its a thing. Dive shop, sports stores etc. A long wax crayon that you run down the zipper teeth. Works great.

Marine stores have a silicone like grease for zippers. works great.

As I thought, there are many ways to 'skin this cat'. I have sail kote and a tube of the silicone lube mentioned. So I'll try the zipper silicone grease stuff that my wife uses on the Artic cooler zipper. I can always fall back to sail kote as I don't think the wife will give up her lip balm.

The cheapest silicone spray you can find works great. WD 40 works as well but stinks.

Another vote for lip balm/Chap Stick. Easy to apply, non-toxic, convenient size and cheap. Probably already have a tube or two in your jacket pocket. I've used it for several decades on jackets, boat snaps and zippers, and yes, sometimes even on lips.

We don't have a stick and brick store in Utah.

Amazon has zipper wax for $4.60 plus $4.20 for shipping. More expensive than lip balm, but a much longer tube, so it will last much longer.

So I use Bestop Zipper cleaner and lube on my Ranger R21EC and on my Jeep. Works for me.
