New to my 2016 C30S. Having issue with the Depth Sounder. It is intermittent at idle speed and all higher speeds. Have any of you owners experienced this issue and is there a remedy
Thanks

You Most likely need to add pink rv antifreeze to the transducer cup. I don’t know where the transducer is on a your c30. But if you can find it remove the 6 or so small Philips screws and lift the transducer out. Fill the cup full. Make sure the oring is on the transducer and reinstall with screws. Antifreeze will run out. That’s ok doing it this way makes sure there are no air bubbles inside. Finally wipe up the antifreeze.

Thanks Mike and Sarah for the information. Never heard of antifreeze in a transducer, but will follow up and try to find it.

It’s been a long, long standing issue. Lots and lots of posts on it if you need to research the issue.
If, after refilling the cup with RV Antifreeze (pink) the problem recurs after a while you may have a cup sealing issue. The cups were glued to the hull. Poor initial factory install practices and hull flex can cause the seal failures.
Again, lots of prior posts (many with photos) on how to reseal the cup if necessary. If the cup is easily accessible it’s a straightforward fix.

Thanks again. Will follow up and try to find the prior posts.

I have two Rangers, and had to put pink antifreeze in both transducers. It fixed both of them. Went from flashing or no readings to good reliable steady readings.

I have to fill my transducer yearly. Next time I am removing it, buffing the location where it is mounted, and securing it with new adhesive. Luckily the is difficult to gain access to, making the job a real dream to accomplish.

I have a 2018 C24 and this past September I had to install a new transducer. It was sealed to the deck and full of antifreeze and I also checked with Garmin tech and tried everything they said to check. Installed a new unit and all is good.

Your transducer might be glued to the hull sans cup. When it gets loose, you need to reinstall with the cup that is available at Hodges marine for a reasonable price. Get the one for a P79 transducer. Been there done that. 2014 R31cb.

Sea Dog - I have been experiencing a similar issue myself on a 2017 R29. Whenever I leave the slip and idle out it works just fine every time. But when I throttle up to cruising speed it will stop working and usually flash what I assume is the last depth it read correctly. When I get to where I am going and back to idle speeds it works fine again. My transducer is at the rear of the boat and I know that the factory has played with many different locations. My guess is that in my instance it is cavitation. I plan on moving it next to the shower pump this spring in hopes that this will fix my issue. It has been full of RV antifreeze every time I've checked it.

Had the same problem with my R29 transducer.
Now I fill the cup with ultrasound gel...works great and doesn't leak out.

Interesting solution. Is the gel easy to purchase ?

Your transducer is located on the forward starboard side of the engine very bottom of the bilge. Not a easy get to location. Remove the 4 screws holding down the cover, twist the lid off of transducer. I use a plastic ketchup bottle. ( dollar store) Fill with RV antifreeze and make sure the O ring is seated properly. Before you button it back up make sure the depth sounder is working. (Lesson learned) You will probably have to refill every other year. That's been my experience with my 2016 C30. Annoying!
