After the fun we had on the South Sound Spring Thaw, I figured I'd invite anyone who is interested to join me and my two (14 & 11 year old) kids to join us for a long weekend over Father's Day (departing Olympia Friday 6/19, returning Sunday 6/21). Lisa will be on a cruise ship in Alaska with her parents and sister, so we're going to go on our own adventure.

Right now my tentative plan is Blake Island on 6/19 (falling back to Port Orchard, Bremerton, or Poulsbo if it's full) and swinging by Cutts Island and/or Hope Island for a few hours on 6/20 before heading to Fair Harbor (ice cream!) or Jarrell Cove for the night.

I don't have any big plans around meals, events, etc. and I can be convinced to try other options, but I don't want anything where the moorage is super-tricky since I'll be a little short-handed in terms of crew. I also have an annual state marine park pass that I'm trying to get my money's worth on. If anyone is interested, let me know and we can try to nail down some more specific plans.

Sounds like a real ball! Kathy and I have been wanting to get out to Jarrell Cove. Maybe we could meet you all out there?
K&K.

Looks like our plans are solidifying. The kiddos have their eye on some of the restaurants in Des Moines and the ice cream at Fair Harbor, so the revised plan is roughly:

Friday, 6/19
  • 9am Depart Swantown for Blake Island
  • 11am Arrive Blake Island - lunch & hiking
  • 2:30pm Depart Blake Island for Des Moines
  • 3:00pm Arrive Des Moines

Saturday, 6/20
  • 9am Depart Des Moines for Jarrell Cove
  • 11am Arrive Jarrell Cove State Park - lunch & hiking, perhaps on mooring ball
  • 2:30pm Depart Jarrell Cove for Fair Harbor
  • 3:00pm Arrive Fair Harbor

Sunday, 6/21 (Father's Day)
  • 11am Depart Fair Harbor
  • Maybe stop at McMicken Island or Hope Island
  • Arrive Swantown
We'd be happy to hang out with @OverTime at Jarrell Cove on Saturday and any other boats for any part of the journey. I can guarantee cold drinks available for any fellow dads, and a 14 year old willing to play catch with anyone who loves baseball at any age.

Sounds fun, unfortunately we are booked that weekend.
Look forward to joining you on another trip.
