I’m thinking about removing the solar panel to make room for a car carrier box (Thule) to store fishing poles. Has anyone done this? Is it as easy as undoing 4 bolts and disconnecting the electrical wires from the box affixed to the panel? Would it be easy to reattach if I needed solar power at some point?
Thanks,
Steve

Why choose. We have both a 335 watt solar panel and a Yakima DeepSpace 10 cargo box mounted to our roof rack. Plenty of room for both. And your boat is much wider than our C-28.

I like your setup, but I have the command bridge so have limited space up top.

My ‘16 CB 30 solar setup, 2 200w Renogy Flex panels mounted on plastic corrugated with Velcro flaps sewed into the top. 40 amp Rover controller in the battery compartment with Bluetooth. Note, New upper enclosure, all wires, and panels have been covered and cleaned up since this last pic. If there are any other pix you want to see of this, let me know. I house all my repairs, maintenance, pix, and doc's in Yachtwave, and use that as my online tool. It also helps with resale value, showing a complete and detailed record of maintenance.

That is nice, but beyond my allotted time allowance at present. I will look into Yachtwave, as it seems like a great tool.

Another question for you: are your bow railings less sturdy than one would expect? Mine have quite a bit of play in them, especially back by the windshield. I’m hoping there is a way (and access) to tighten them.

Thanks,
Steve

Sorry, We just got back from the island this afternoon. As for bow rails, not really, but there is a lot less contact points on these smaller boat bow rails, vs larger boats that have full rails all the way back to the cockpit, and are usually more stout, with larger rails. If they are remarkably loose, that probably means you are also asking for water intrusion into the screw mounting holes. May want to think about re-bedding them, lot's of YouTubes on this, or maybe do a silicone bead around the mounts until the end of the season, then do that project over the winter.

Definitely a winter project. Thanks!
