My Garmin and Yamaha CL5 guage show different fuel levels. I've reset fuel settings on the Garmin and add fuel manually in settings on each fill up. But even after resetting and calibrating the CL5, it always show 52% full even after a full fillup. Should I just ignore the CL5 guage?

Hi there!

The information you see on the Yamaha screen is from the level sender in the tank, which is susceptible to motion, boat attitude and so on. The best way to set this is to set the tank to full on the Garmin plotter when you know that the tank is full, just as you filled it. The gauge on the Yamaha panel should then also be at the top. Let me know if that makes sense.

Cheers!

Thanks Ralf. After fueling, the Yamaha gauge consistently maxes out around 52%, even with the boat level. It decreases correctly with usage but won’t register beyond that point. Could this indicate a bad float sensor? I’m using the Garmin for fuel tracking, but I’d prefer the tank sender to be reliable.

You might be right. If you're still under warranty, give your dealer a shout to see if we can get a claim started for you. Let me know. Otherwise we'll get you some info on how to find the sensor and get started on a little diagnosis

Cheers,

Ralf
