2010 PNW Rendezvous - Sep 10-12, 2010

Hello to all, This is our first time with Internet access ...so a belated thanks to Dave and Maureen as everyone else has already said !!! It was great -- thought it could not be as good as last year and voila -- it was even better. Steve and I are in Egmont -- and will leave tomorrow for Princess Louisa Inlet -- hitting slack tide at 15:30 ----- A really special thanks to John and Laurie for their information and especially for making our navigation possible thru these waters since we did not have the necessary nav. chit and now we do !!!! also for your chart book !! and thanks to patrick for more local knowledge... I have so many notes --- but they are all incredibly helpful when we have not been here ....Great hiking on Egmont to the Skookum chook or something similar narrows,,, beautiful rain forest -- nice wide path !! Weather has been mostly dry --only a drizzzle with the sun poking its welcome head out - now and again. Will post again-- the next time we find the ever elusive internet connection. Safe travels to all..... Steve and Tina

my goodness, I am sorry to hear some folks didn't pay. anything I can do to help let me know. I had so much fun I would hate for this to end. Speaking of fun Abby's tummy is back on track I think if she could speak she would thank everyone for the snacks🙂

That's It is safely berthed in her spot at the Salt Spring Island Sailing Club....neither of us wanted to come home but responsibilites beckon and the only thing that made it bearable is the fact that we are already making plans for next year!

We left Coupeville on Tuesday morning after waiting for the fog to clear (okay I could get to like fog.....only kidding Dave!!, I actually like those early morning starts, but don't tell my friends and family!!) headed for Blind Bay on Shaw Island.....clear calm sailing all the way across to LaConner and up the channel, then just off Anacortes we hit it - a solid wall of fog.....chart showing a Green marker that should be right off our starboard close enough to touch and we cannot see it.....so we turned around and headed back to Anacortes and spent the night there.....I have never been to Anacortes so Pat enjoyed showing it off to me as he has been there a few times (That's It came from Anacortes).....

It was foggy again Wednesday morning so we waited around till it burned off and then travelled to Blind Bay on Shaw Island where we spent the night on the hook. It was very peaceful there except for the numerous ferries that call into that little sleepy island, puts the Salt Spring ferry schedule to shame!!! It was nice being at anchor, and not having a stern tie left us free to swing around for a refreshed view every few minutes!!!

We heaved anchor about 10:30 this morning and cruised through Pole Pass in bright sunshine and flat calm waters......came out around the West end of Orcas and back into fog..... We crossed to Jones Island and spent a couple hours at the dock there. Patrick hiked out to the point to see how it looked on the far side and we decided to head out again.

Made it to Pender to clear customs without incident. It seemed weird to round the corner to Poet's Cover and not see a herd of cute Ranger Tugs at the dock.... As we left Pender it started to pour rain, really the first rain we have seen this trip....it just suited our sad mood.!!
Still hoping for an Indian Summer so we can get in some fall cruising! Looking forward to hearing what everyone else is up to until we meet again!!

Gail and Partrick,
It was great seeing you guys at Bremerton. I called this morning and scheduled surgery on my knee which is October 18th so Nita and I will not be crusing for at least two weeks. We went up to the R-29 plant in Monroe and had lunch with the crew. Pete Cleland made us promise to put on a lunch for them so we fulfilled our promise to him. We hope to see you soon and spend many hours crusing together.

Greetings, fellow Tug Nutters!
This was our, Wolf Pack, first adventure with all y'all! What a wonderful time we had! It was better than I had even hoped.
Of course, what makes it extra special are all of you extra special people. What a joy it was to meet you all.
Thank you so much for the fun, comaraderie and thoughtfulness!

Pam,
We are all glad that you and Gene were able to join us. It is not the boats that make it such a great event, it is the people. We have people from all walks of lives attending Tugfest each year. Doctors, Lawyers, Bakers, and most every other profession that you can imagine.

There are so many levels of experience within this group that it is impossible not to learn something from each and everyone of them. All you have to do is walk the docks and ask. No one is too important to stop and answer a question of their fellow Tugnutter.

And then there are the people like Andrew, Kenny, and Bobby (of MER) that spend an entire Saturday of their own time teaching and talking to anyone that has a question. These are the guys that really bring it home.

This is what makes this event so special. All the great people that attend. All the great people that share everything they have to share. All the great people.........

Amen to that!
You guys (Karma) did a fabulous job.
Mrs Wolf Pack

Thanks David for the great pictures. I am sure that quite a few of them will end up as backgrounds and screen savers on Tugnuts computers.

My pictures on the public Picassa Web albums have a copyright notice just for the general public. I am always glad to share the full size files with any TugNut or C-Brat. The photos I publish have been reduced in size and usually are not suitable for use beyond viewing on a computer. The full size files though could be used for many things, and I am happy to share them without the copyright notice. Willie and I are not professional photographers, but we enjoy taking thousands of photos. Occasionally we take a lucky one that we hope someone enjoys. Just let me know if you want any.
