2010 PNW Rendezvous - Sep 10-12, 2010

The Veggie Race Cars are a nice touch! Have fun with them. Sounds like a great event 😉 Our Potatoe got smoked by a Cucumber! Long wheelbases seem to work best.

C-Brats take notice, this is a great way to do a CBGT as well. Guess we're just not as well organized but somehow get the job done. We don't have nearly 50 boats at our gatherings either.... the volume makes a big difference!

You Nuts have fun, hope the weather cooperates.

Thanks Charlie! Along with all of the food, banners, agendas, etc that we ordered, I also ordered three days of 75-80 temperatures along with abundant sunshine...... we will see how that works out......

Wow - just realized Sep 10 is this Friday and we just returned from a Roche harbor family gathering over labor day weekend. The return trip back to Edmonds was kinda of daunting with mist, fog, rain, wind and low visibility. Had all four wipers running most of the time. Laxey handled the conditions all very well and actually it was quite scenic coming through the San Juan Islands. The large Ferry boats seemed to mysteriously appear out of the mist and at times caught us by surprise. The Southerly wind was blowing hard at times but that meant pitching will little rolling, but also meant Laxey got a lot of water. As the temp was a tad low and with the 1st mate feeling the cold i had my first chance at using the cabin heater. It does a fine job and keeps the cabin nice and cosy. Our two Fox Terriers also were glad to have a warmer bed, so to speak. I forgot to close up the hatch in the head and things got a bit wet in there. I was forced to run engine at around 3500 rpm for some 5 hrs on the return voyage in order to make Edmonds in daylight. Thank goodness for the Garmin autopilot as it computes arrival time when navigating a course. This makes it easy to set the boats speed to ensure a specified arrival time.

In Roche harbor Laxey was squeezed in by a 100 footer with a 80 footer behind her. It made our R25 seem so small in comparison. Roche is a blast on the holiday weekends and our whole family enjoyed the activities.

Looking forward to the Bremerton GTG and a chance to meet everyone and their boats. David and crew have gone the extra mile or two for this event and it's much appreciated.

Reluctantly Lynne and I have to cancel. Health issues with a mother! We had hoped that they would be resolved, but they aren't. We will miss you. It appears that wind and currents will be favorable for us, too.

Looks like I have to add my tears to those of Lobo as my work situation has crashed leaving me holding the bag. Be there next year.

Those of you attending Tug Fest 2010 in Bremerton, please be advised that we have had to switch the radio channel to 72 for communications. The construction crew builting the new Mannette Bridge is using 71.....

We will monitor both frequencys in the event that someone should miss this.

The Lucky Fin is parked at the factory.
My plumbing checked perfect in Spokane. I have been warned that I am radio active. and if I ride the ferry I must carry some paperwork indicating it is due to a medical procedure. I have gone nuclear. Stays with me for 6 days. Interesting ,huh? 🙂

In the true style of David Baker and Patrick Beattie, That's It departed Salt Spring Island Sailing Club before 6 am. We saw the sun come up, navigated a fog bank localized between Beaver Point and Moresby Island, crossed the Strait of Juan De Fuca and rounded Point Wilson without incident (except for a slight bit of confusion with a Customs Official at Port Townsend who was having a bad day!) and were tied up at Port Townsend boat haven by 1 pm. We spent the day exploring the delightful town of Port Townsend and were lucky enough to be able to see all the wooden boats gathered for the Wooden Boat Festival which starts tomorrow. Due to the threat of crew revolt, tomorrow's departure will not be until after breakfast! We anticipate arrival in Bremerton early tomorrow afternoon!

We are looking forward to seeing everyone!

Patrick and Gail

Hi all,

I will not be arriving, today, Friday, as planned. I hope to stop by tomorrow by car and say hi.

Posting from the Bremerton TugNut gathering: What a great bunch of people with a common love of boats and boating. And a great job of organization by David, Maureen, Ranger Tugs, and helpers; along with vendors Yanmar, Garmin, and others. Its just a lot of fun looking at other boats, meeting new people, and learning about new cruise destinations, already looking forward to next year.

Thank you to all.

We sure had a great time at the Tugnut Rendezvous.... I kept on thinking what a super group of people that all have the common thread of the love of boats. Special thank you to Dave and Maureen for their organizational skills, I heard several mention that getting the bridge shots was like 'herding cats'. Thank you to John and Dave for creating a wonderful tug that never ceases to amaze us, your ingenuity is what sets you apart from the rest. Jeff for being the best of the best when it comes to follow-thru, customer service and enthusiasm about Ranger Tugs. Howard, Carol, Kenny, Bob and Andrew.... what can one say about the Ultimate Team .. Uber Thanks from Zuma!!!
