We are now less than a week from Tug Fest 2010 in Bremerton! We currently have 46 vessels that have confirmed! Below you will find additional information for this great event!
Arriving at Bremerton:
We ask that as you approach the marina, you call out to Karma on Channel 71. Please do not enter the marina until instructed to do so. This marina can have a very strong current flowing through it. We do not want to have a vessel damaged due to too many vessels trying to maneuver inside at one time. Once you check in via channel 71, please keep the frequency clear so those that are assisting others can communicate.
We will have people on the dock that will direct and assist you with getting tied up. We ask that dinghy’s not be lowered into the water until all vessels have been secured. We have a large number of vessels attending this year’s event. The goal is to get everyone on the public dock as well as the breakwater. Those that do not require 30 amp service, will be “squeezed” in between those that do. Once everyone is secured, if there is room, feel free to drop your dinghy.
Sparky and Joe will be at the end of the breakwater directing you in. Bruce, John, Bob, and Herb (of Willie’s Tug) will be assisting with tie up. I will monitor the radio and assist where needed.
If you are not familiar with the Bremerton Marina, there is a ferry dock immediately west of the entrance. There are both large and small ferries arriving and departing from this location. Along with this, you have the shipyard west of the ferry docks…. This can be a very busy area.
If you require fuel upon arrival, fuel can be purchased across the bay at the Port Orchard City Marina. Fuel is not available at Bremerton.
Those of you arriving on Thursday will need to check in on Friday morning under the tent. When you check in, you will receive a copy of the agenda as well as name tags, and other goodies.
Okay, now for the fun stuff!
Tug Crawl:
Tug crawl is designed to allow other owners to visit the many other vessels present at this year’s event. Each vessel will receive a sign to place in a window that is visible from the dock. One side welcomes guests, while the other request privacy. It is not mandatory for you to allow others to “crawl” all over your vessel. If you are not comfortable with this or just simply do not feel like “guests”, simply display the appropriate sign.
If you are not planning on being aboard your vessel yet leaving it open for others, please be sure that all valuables are out of sight.
Please do not open drawers of cabinets on unattended vessels.
Crawls will take place on both Friday and Saturday from 3:00 to 5:00.
Picture:
Once again, we will have an “aerial” shot taken from the Manette Bridge. Each vessel will be assigned a colored placard that you will display in the back window of your vessel. Vessels with the same color will simply line up in the behind one another. We want to keep the group as close together as possible. Please monitor channel 71 on your radio for instructions throughout the entire procedure.
Single photos will be taken after the aerial is complete. Please sign up with Glen Davis under the tent prior to.
When we leave the marina for this event, we will leave with the closest boat to the entrance going out first followed by the second, third, etc…..
We will gather to the east of the entrance of the Bremerton Marina at 2:00 pm on Saturday. Please be aware that a ferry will be arriving into Bremerton at or about 1:30. There is also a scheduled departure at 1:45 pm. What a sight this will be for those on the ferry! 40 little tug boats all lined up waving good bye!
We will have people on the dock upon returning to once again assist with getting vessels secured. Please return to your designated spot.

Wow, reading through all of this sounds like this is all too orchestrated! But hey! It is boating! And you all know what that means, you have too be flexible as it can all change!
Let's just go and have a good time and share what we love second best.... (Hopefully your spouse is first.....) Being on the water with fellow Tug Nuts!
See you in Bremerton!
