My engine hatch switch opens the hatch when the toggle is pushed up and opens also when pushed down and the hatch wont close at all. It also sounds like a motor is running any time I have the house switch turned on. Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Have you pulled the switch out of its slot and looked for corrosion on the leads?
