I just took possession of a brand new Cutwater 24 about a month ago. I just realized today that the VHF (Standard Horizon Explorer) is not hooked up to the chart plotter. I was surprised to discover this because I assumed this was standard procedure. This model is not NMEA 2000 compatible. I spoke with Garmin support and they told me to find the 2 wires in the power cord for the NMEA 0183 connection and connect them. Unfortunately I can't find the end of it. What is your recommendation for making the connection?

I have the same boat with the same question (Cutwater 24). The wiring panel in the head is a little tight with a good many wires and I'm a bit reticent about pulling panels and things apart without having some idea going in about the routing. I made the mistake of entering my MMSI in the VHF before realizing this was the case and now get the alarm about coordinates being stale 10 min. into every ride...

On a somewhat related note, are there really going to be manuals produced for this rig?

This was discussed in a thread about 10 days ago. Look here.

Basically, Ranger does not make the connections at the factory. It is left to the dealer to complete the work. Check the thread I reference above.

Good luck,
