The small blue lights on the transom and the underwater lights do not come on. I have tried to find the cause having checked all switches and fuse but one. Now I want to check the rocker switch in the cockpit to see if it is faulty. However I can’t figure out how to get it out. There are no visible screws holding it in. Any suggestions?

Funny you should ask. I just replaced half of the Carlin rocker switch covers (aka actuators) and two switch bodies yesterday including the two in our C-28 cockpit. The Carlin rocker switches are held in place by four wings - two on top and two on bottom. You have to press down from the back on all four wings simultaneously to get the switch body to pop out forwards.
The still photo on this link shows the two of the wings on bottom of the switch body.

It is possible to push on only the two top or bottom wings at a time to get the switch slide out but it takes some effort using that technique. They make a special tool you can get for removing the actuators that doubles as a tool to press down on a pair of the wings. Search the web for Contura switch actuator removal tool to find them. Typically a few bucks.

You can buy the Carlin Contura rocker switch bodies at a number of places. On/Off Carlin rocker switches are typically $10-$15 at New Wire Marine, Spemco or Pacer Group.

I’m putting in actuators that are have unique illumination, large labeling and are in multiple colors (eg horn with red actuator) so I can work them in near dark if necessary. Half of them are in and the rest will go in next week. I’m also putting in locking switches for the bilge pump and cockpit wash down pump to prevent unintended activation. Having the row of stock multiple nearly identical rocker switch actuators with tiny, tiny labels is a human factors fail in my book.

Here is the actuator I used in the cabin for the blue light on/off switch. I picked the blue lens illumination option rather than the red on this link.

Thanks Vicki and Al. Would it be possible for me to give you a call to discuss this matter since we both have 2019 c28s. My manual is extremely confusing because in many instances its information is much different from what is on the boat. For instance my manual shows an ac switch panel while the manual describes a dc panel. The small blue lights on the transom are described as brake lights and backup lights. I have side hull lights which are nowhere described in the manual. And the cockpit and transom switches are not where the manual say they should be and so on. I am hoping someone from Cutwater will read this and provide some helpful information.
