When I was looking into whether or not my Garmin 7612xsv needed an update I noticed on the Feb 21, 2019 update that there are 3 options to choose from now: 7612, 7612xsv, and 7612xsv Volvo Penta. I don't recall seeing the Volvo option before. Anyone know about this 7612xsv Volvo option and whether this is the best update?
 
The 7612xsv Volvo Penta update is for boats with Volvo's Glass Cockpit System which uses Volvo system components for Autopilot, joystick, etc. In reality, I don't think it matters which link you use to get to the software download, though, since the link to the equipment covered (https://www8.garmin.com/support/downloa ... sp?id=8743) indicates the update is applicable to components comprising straight Garmin systems, as well as, Glass Cockpit Systems. I upgraded mine this week using the 7612xsv link and the system just uses the installed components as a guide to apply the upgrades when installing them on the boat.
