I've had my C-242 in dry storage for the winter and began to get it ready for the water. I hooked up the batteries and they seem to be working fine, but my accessories will not work. I've turned the rotary switches on and the house rotary on. The outlets work, but the cabin/V birth lights, Garmin, bilge, horn, etc are not working. Is there a breaker or reset button or ? that I'm overlooking?

when you say outlets, do you mean your 12v outlets or 120v outlets? If the latter, are you on shore power while the 120v outlets are working? If your garmin is not working, to me that's an indicator of a battery problem. The house switch controls all of that.

The outlets work when plugged into 120v (shore power) The Abso charger shows the house batteries at 13.1 v....the engine/thruster batteries at 12.9 v...they work fine. Could I have a false reading off the Abso?
I also thought a battery problem, but the house batteries seem OK. It's just the accessories. The house switch is on..

On my C-242 there is a circuit breaker mounted to the hull just next to the house batteries, pretty far aft. Same type of breaker as the one for the anchor windless. Also, up with the fuses there is one fuse each for the 4 and 8 switch panels of that include the items you're referring to.

Good luck to you,

CJ

Looking at the manual for your boat that Dave linked to, there are a few key points you can check for voltage. Dave's and ChrisJ's suggestion to check the house "breaker" is a good one. If that's tripped, that's your problem. If it isn't, then it is time to start tracing voltage from the batteries to the house breakers and fuses.

Page 26 has the PDP (power distribution) schematic. There should be a 100 amp fuse between the batteries and the house switch. That fuse should be close to the batteries. If the fuse isn't blown and you have voltage there, the next stop is the house switch. Check for voltage at the switch if you can. After the switch, the schematic shows a 175 amp breaker, which would be the house breaker that Dave and ChrisJ identified and is shown on page 18. Odds are good the problem will be somewhere between the batteries and that last house breaker since it sounds like all DC accessories, regardless of what fuse block or breakers they are on, are not working.

Good luck!

Thanks...will check them out.
