I just re-did the ducting on our recently acquired 2013 R27. AC unit is located on port side behind the microwave under the foot rest area of the copilot seat. If yours is in the v-berth area then ignore the rest of this.
AC unit is accessed by removing a panel at the foot of the cave berth. Ours has a 5”x10” discharge grate on copilot step blowing onto the driver’s feet. A 4” round duct went forward from that step into the v berth. However, it was level with the mattress top and therefore right behind the pillow of the person sleeping on that side, or blowing right at the top of their head. Very bad design.
I think our AC was replaced after leaving the factory because the plenum was poorly connected to the AC blower and had such poor airflow that our AC unit froze up after 2 hours of operation. I can’t imagine the Ranger factory doing anything so poorly.
I redid the plenum on top of the AC blower motor to allow air to flow less obstructed and moved the 4” v berth vent outboard and up right under the side deck, quite high in the cabin so it now blows over sleepers. That required me to drill 2-4” holes for new duct hose. One is all the way outboard at the front of foot rest platform for copilot and the other thru the bulkhead into the v berth for the new grate there. I’ll build cabinetry around the round grey duct to hide it.
I subdivided the plenum to split airflow between the 2 outlets. There was insufficient room to use T duct splitters like others used in other configurations.
Ours now works great and puts out tons of cold air without freezing up which is mandatory in out hot Texas climate.
Hopefully this helps with your design.
